Why apply for the Educational Credentials Review Service?

The Educational Credentials Review is used primarily for licensure to practice physical therapy in the U.S. If you are planning to reside In one U.S. jurisdiction and are seeking a license to work as a physical therapist in that jurisdiction, you should apply for an FCCPT Educational Credentials Review.

The educational credentials review is not accepted by USCIS for immigration purposes. If you require a visa screen, please read the sections on the Type I and/or Type 2 services.

This review can also be used to obtain certification for Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS).

This review also may be used for admissions to academic institutions in the U.S. Applicants should check first with the college or university to which one is seeking admission to see if it requires an external evaluation of educational credentials, and if they will accept an evaluation from FCCPT.

The Review Process
The educational credentials review compares the educational records that are provided by an applicant’s educational institutions to the current requirements for the first professional degree in physical therapy in the U.S. It determines whether the applicant’s education is substantially equivalent to that of a graduate of an accredited physical therapy degree program in the U.S.

FCCPT uses the Coursework Evaluation Tool (CWT) established by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) that has been vetted and determined to be a reliable, valid tool. The Coursework Evaluation Tool has been validated against the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) criteria.
