How long will I have access to the PLAN counselor?
The counselors will be available to answer your questions until the time that your PLAN worksheet is approved. You may be able to contact them for reminders of how to apply for the PLAN re-evaluation as well. Once the work sheet has been approved If you wish to make changes, then you would need to apply for PLAN incremental services the fee for this is $100.00. If the reason for changing the worksheet is due to courses no longer being offered, you may appeal the fee by sending a fax with signature to the director at 703-684-8715.
Will the counselor tell me what courses to take and where to take them?
You will be provided with a list of potential resources based upon your academic deficiencies. In addition, you may propose other resources for the PLAN counselor to review. It will by your choice as to where you take the courses, based upon your own resources and needs (cost, time, convenience and schedules).
Can PLAN guarantee that I will be able to take the courses to meet the deficiencies?
The PLAN counselor will give a list or resources. Sometimes one of those resources may be to apply to a US program as a transfer student and complete the entry level program from a CAPTE accredited program.
How long will I have to complete my PLAN services?
- You should complete the PLAN review and worksheet within six months. You have two years to complete the coursework before a conversion to a new version of the CWT would take place, thus it is recommended that you do this.
- If it takes longer you still have access to the free re-evaluation, but note that there may be different requirements after two years have elapsed.
- It is the applicant’s responsibility to monitor these timelines and note if there have been any updates in the CWT requirements or in the state licensure requirements.
Will the PLAN counselor revise my initial CWT evaluation if I have questions about the results or if there are additional transcript to be submitted?
NO; If you believe that there were errors in your first evaluation, or if there are additional educational documents to be added to the review you must first apply for re-evaluation. The PLAN counselor utilizes the most recent CWT results to assist you in planning your academic remediation.
Will I be advised regarding state specific requirements?
Whenever possible we will attempt to assist in the interpretation of state requirements on the CWT. It is however the applicant’s responsibility to research the individual state that they are applying to, and to maintain awareness of changes. We make every effort to identify these changes for an applicant, however, the state does not always notify the FCCPT. If you have changed the state that you are applying to, remember that we do the PLAN counseling based upon the latest review, and you may need a re-evaluation before we can give adequate advice.
I didn’t use FCCPT can I still benefit from PLAN?
You can apply for the PLAN incremental, we will assist in the interpretation of the final report, and provide the list of alternatives for making up the deficiencies. To make application you must write to the FCCPT, include an e-mail address and signature, Your application must be entered manually to get a file number.
