Frequently Asked Questions about the PTA-EER
If my review for physical therapist educational equivalency was found to be not equivalent will I meet the requirements for the PTA?
Not necessarily, The PTA-EER is a totally different review, and the requirements may be similar in some areas they are not exactly the same. The role of PTA has not been a universal role, thus here may be some issues of scope of care. The PTA curricula stress the interventions of care plans, and there is little examination and evaluation is the purview of the PT.
If I am not found to be equivalent as a PT, can I apply for the PTA exam?
This is determined by the licensing authority, not the FCCPT. Applicants are encouraged to review the requirements in the jurisdiction they wish to work.
