Comprehensive Credentials Review (Type 1 Review)

This service is a visa screening authorized by USCIS for immigration purposes.

Applicants use the Type 1 Review to obtain a USCIS Healthcare Worker Certificate required for a work visa. This service includes an Educational Credentials Review, verification of eligibility to practice PT in the country of education (and elsewhere, if applicable), and verification of English language proficiency.

Educational Credentials Review

This service determines whether an applicant’s education is substantially equivalent to an accredited PT degree program in the U.S.

Applicants use the Educational Credential Review to apply for a license to practice PT in the U.S., to apply for admission into some U.S. educational programs, and for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) certification as a Medicare/Medicaid provider.

Physical Therapist Assistant Educational Equivalency Review (PTA-EER)

This service determines whether an applicant’s education is substantially equivalent to an accredited PTA degree program in the U.S.

Applicants use it to obtain a license to practice as a PTA in the U.S., and for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) certification, where permitted by the jurisdiction.

PTA Physical Therapist Assistant Educational Equivalency Review (PTA-EER)
New York Credentials Verification

This service independently collects and verifies the authenticity of an applicant's credentials to apply for licensure as a PT or PTA in New York State.

Applicants use the New York Credentials Verification service to apply for a license to practice in New York. New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires verification from a NYSED-approved Credential Verification Organization (CVO). FCCPT is an approved CVO.

Planned Learning and Assistance Network (PLAN)

PLAN services identify supplemental educational opportunities for applicants who require additional education to meet jurisdiction requirements for licensure.

Three (3) types of PLAN service are available

  • Applicants who know that they need to take specific courses prior to applying for an evaluation should use Pre-Service PLAN (PS-PLAN).
  • Applicants who have used FCCPT for their evaluation can use PLAN-Full service.
  • Applicants who have a minimal number of questions and do not want the PLAN-Full, or have had their education evaluated by an agency other than FCCPT, using the Coursework Evaluation Tool (CWT) licensed by FSBPT, should use PLAN-Incremental.

Visa Credentials Review (Type II Certificate) (Discontinued)

Effective September 1, 2009, USCIS no longer accepts new applications for the Type II Certificate for immigration purposes. If you have an expired Type II Certificate and need a healthcare workers certificate to maintain your visa status, you must apply for the Comprehensive Credentials Review (Type 1 Review). The Type 1 Review is now the only service available for visa screening for all candidates.
